It’s no secret that going on vacation can be expensive. If you’re looking to have a getaway and relax, but don’t have the time or money to do anything extravagant, it could pay to emulate the same feeling of a vacation with a staycation.

What’s a Staycation?
Staycations are when you stay in the town, city, or state that you’re from and get to do some fun touristy things that you might not have checked out before. Staycations are a great idea for people who don’t want to spend a ton of money on hotel or travel costs, and for those that want to appreciate their home town or state a little bit more.

How to have a Staycation
There are no right or wrong ways to have a staycation. However, there are some things you want to do to ensure that your staycation is as close to a vacation as possible.  For one, try your best not to do chores or other things that you think have to get done around the house today. They can wait until your staycation is over. Two, try to come up with a plan for your staycation, so you don’t slip into a normal weekend routine. Having a successful staycation happens when your day is different from the usual.

Here are a few ideas that you can do that will make your staycation fun and relaxing!
  1. Plan a tour of your favorite local places. Spend the day checking out your tried and true favorite things that your town has to offer.
  2. Check out new places in town. We all have that list of places that we’ve wanted to check out, but never do because we always do what’s within our routine. Spend a weekend checking out some of these places – maybe they’ll even become your new favorites!
  3. Do something outside. If the weather is nice, head to the beach, go hiking or head to a local amusement park. Walk around a town or city nearby that you’ve never truly explored. Have a picnic in the park. Soaking up the nice weather is a surefire way to feel rejuvenated.
