Nicole P. works as a Senior Electronic Operations Representative

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I grew up in Stratford, CT and graduated from Sacred Heart University with a Bachelors in English and a Masters in Education. I started with Sikorsky Credit Union in 2012 as a teller in the Seymour branch. I had graduated college the year before and was looking to get out of the retail space. In 2016 I was hired for the Operations department and I’m now a Senior Electronic Operations Representative. I love doing any crafty-especially during the holiday season whether it’s making decorations or baking holiday treats! My favorite thing to do outside of work is spend time with my husband and daughter.

What type of tasks and responsibilities do you handle at work?
On a daily basis I’m responsible for the posting of ACH electronic payments for the Credit Union. I also process wire transfers and take part in credit card and debit card handling. On any given day a challenge can arise, and I have to be ready to research and brainstorm how to fix the problem.

What’s the best thing about your job?
Every day is something different. Even though the processes and procedures are the same, the work that comes across my desk varies from day to day. Aside from the daily work, my co workers are the best thing about my job. The team I’m a part of works seamlessly together and we also have each other’s backs to help when we get busy.

What would you do for a career if you weren’t doing this?
I honestly love being part of the Operations department but if I wasn’t doing this specific job, I would like to still be involved in payments but more of the technological side of it. The payments world is a blend of technology, creativity, and evolution which I find very exciting.

What’s a personal goal that you’re currently working on?
I’m currently taking an Executive Education class with the Credit Union League of CT. I have a few more classes to take and I will be graduating from the course in May. My goal is to complete the class and learn as much as I can about credit unions and leadership along the way.

How do you define success?
Success isn’t about credentials or awards - to me success is being able to look back and see all the obstacles you’ve overcome and recognize how much you’ve grown. It’s important to always look for new opportunities to learn and continue to grow as an individual.

What is your favorite thing about working at Sikorsky Credit Union?
My favorite thing about working at Sikorsky Credit Union directly connects to my definition of success. Sikorsky Credit Union promotes an environment that encourages growth and education for its employees. If you want to enhance your career, there are opportunities and paths that can be taken to help you succeed personally and professionally. At the Credit Union you’re not just a face in the crowd…you’re known by your coworkers and appreciated for you hard work.
